Design ethics for the new normal: Co-operative Alternatives

As part of the ‘DESIGN ETHICS FOR THE NEW NORMAL’ series by WOW New Agency, DARH member Adriana Eysler invited Gemma Copeland of digital coop Common Knowledge to discuss Co-operative Alternatives. Together they explore alternative ways of working in the cultural and creative industries, cooperative models and modes of production and their rise in the wake of COVID-19.

Adriana is Senior Lecturer in Contextual and Theoretical Studies and member of the Design Activism Research Hub at LCC. She has been active in the Precarious Workers Brigade, a collective that investigates and organizes against unpaid internships and precarious conditions in the creative sector, for the last 10 years, and is a member of the Designers + Cultural Workers branch of the union United Voices of the World.

Gemma is a digital designer and member of Common Knowledge, a not-for-profit worker cooperative that builds digital tools for and with grassroots activists. She is also part of the Designers + Cultural Workers branch of the union United Voices of the World.
